No Bake Energy Bites

These treats are tasty, packed with protein and easy to make. They make a great snack-on-the-go and can even serve as fuel during labor.



Makes 20-25 bites


1 cup dry oatmeal (I used a combination of old fashioned and steel cut oats because it’s what I had in my cupboard)

2/3 cup toasted unsweetened shredded coconut

1/2 cup natural peanut butter (can use almond butter instead)

1/2 cup ground flaxseed

1/3 agave nectar (honey or real maple syrup can be used as well)

1 mashed ripe banana

1/4 cup unsweetened cacao powder

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at an hour, to make the mix easier to handle and mold.

Once chilled, roll into balls of whatever size you would like. Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.

*If the mix seems too dry, add in an extra tablespoon or two of peanut butter or another banana.  If the mix seems too wet add extra oatmeal.
